Rollercoaster

There's a new theme park opening up in Abu Dhabi this week that's sponsored by Ferrari, the car maker. It is the largest covered theme park in the world. One of the attractions is the fastest roller coaster in the world. Personally I like roller coasters and have been on two of the ten fastest ones in the world, at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. I believe the Top Fuel Dragster goes 127 mph and the other one is a little slower.
The Formula Rossa gets up to 240 kph which is equal to 150 mph. They actually issue you goggles to wear because of blowing sand and other things that might get in your eyes on the ride. It's also a longer ride than the 17 seconds you spend on the Top Fuel Dragster.
So once I ride it in the next few weeks I will have ridden 3 of the 10 fastest in the world.
Oh, look there's another picture of me in a different place which gives you an idea where I traveled to last weekend.

QOB: This is longer than my typical one liner, but has a lot of meaning. It's from a book called "Father Joe" by Tony Hendra. "Feelings are a great gift, but they're treacherous if that's all we live for. They drive us back into our selves, you see. What I want. What I feel. What I need. A man and a woman pass beyond just feelings at some point, don't they? That's when they start to know true love. The love of another. The joy in another's existence. The wonderful ways that the other person is not like you, nor you like them. What you said about the prison of self you felt you were in - that was very exact. Love releases you from that prison, you see."
Have a great day.

  1. Dad, it's Top THRILL dragster--you better change that before anyone notices. Plus, the first time you rode that was with me and as I do recall you were crying you were so scared then you threw up. Hahaha okay everyone reading this that didn't actually happen... but it would have been funny...

LOVE the quote. A little different than your usual posts about alarm clocks and success and whatever else... is there something you should be telling us? Or is it "None of Our Business"?? ;)

  2. You make me laugh. No hidden meaning behind the quote just wanted people to look at themselves and evaluate where they are in their relationship.
The name of the roller coaster is irrelevant, I rode it and now I'm going to ride a faster one. In case you've forgotten there are pictures of you screaming like a little girl on the Magnum at Cedar Point.

  3. This reminds me of a few summers ago when I traveled to an amusement park with my daughter and my best friend, her husband, and their kids. There was this old, rickety looking roller coaster. My daughter and I were the only two that wanted to try it. It was the off season, so we were literally the only two on the ride. We rode it about 4 times. Meanwhile, we were riding other rides...for example, the log ride that was really fun, too. By about the 5th time we went back to the roller coaster, I told my daughter I was feeling pretty beat up and that it felt like my neck and head were getting whipped around. She insisted it was my imagination. We switched sides. I had been on the right; she had been on the left. We finished the ride and she jumped out of her seat. "That was terrible, I felt like my head was going to get ripped off my shoulders." I told her it was great fun and we should ride again.....it appears it was all about the side you were on! I died laughing.

I'm with Courtney. That quote was out of context for you, but even if it is 'None of our Business,' best of luck with it.

I had to read the quote several times and then stopped to think about what it was saying. It sort of applies to long term friendships as well as romantic, partner relationships. Once you have a really good friend, with certain things in common and a respect for each other, it becomes very easy to enjoy watching them experience new and different times in their lives. Equally, it becomes increasingly difficult to watch them suffer in unhealthy situations. We don't really need to understand all they are going through, but can see in their eyes or hear in their voice they are stranded in a tough part of their lives. Thank you for sharing and allowing me to relate that quote to some of my dear friendships in my life.

Michigan beat Purdue today; the Wings beat the Avalanche; too bad Ohio State came back to beat Penn State today. State would have been closer to heading to the Rose Bowl if Ohio State had lost. If Michigan can't go, it'd be great if State goes.
